Leslie J. “Les” Robbins, Jr., CPA, and his wife Melanie were featured in the 2023 Nebraska Ledger magazine, published by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Accountancy, for their generosity in financing scholarships for UNL accounting students. In 2012, they established the Robbins Family Charitable Foundation with a goal of giving back to their community and investing in future generations. Robbins credits Nebraska Society of CPAs Past Chairman Bill Strain for making a big impact on his career; Strain hired him as a staff accountant during his last semester of college. Robbins and his wife then moved to Omaha, where he joined a three-year-old firm, which later became Lutz. Robbins became the first non-founder to make partner three years later. In 1992, he moved to Darst & Associates. Six years later, he left public accounting and transitioned to various entrepreneurial adventures. Richard G. “Dick” Zacharia was inducted into the Central High School Hall of Fame in Omaha in 2023. Now retired, Zacharia has been a prominent figure in Omaha accounting circles for decades, serving as the managing partner of Frankel Zacharia for 25 years. He also served on the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy for 10 years and received the Nebraska Society of CPAs’ Distinguished Service to the Profession Award in 2017. Zacharia has been a member of the Nebraska Society of CPAs for 53 years.
