This year, the Society’s Foundation, led by Don Kluthe of Omaha, contributed $127,800 in scholarships to accounting students at 14 Nebraska colleges and universities. This translated to scholarships for 72 college accounting students across the state for the 2019-2020 school year. The scholarships ranged from $1,500 to $2,500 each. Four of the scholarships are named for the Society’s 2019 award recipients, one is presented on behalf of the Foundation Board, another is awarded in honor of the Society’s first executive director Arnold Magnuson, and the newest scholarship honors Dan Vodvarka, who served as the Society’s president from 1990 to 2018. One of the 150-hour scholarships is named for and funded each year by Aureus Group. Nineteen of the 72 scholarships went to students in the final semester of their 150- hour requirement.
