In 2004, he was honored as Concordia University’s Outstanding Graduate in Business. Burger joined the Society in 2008 and has served as chairman of the Accounting Careers Committee for many years. He has been on the Society’s Board of Directors for the past two years. In addition to his role as an adjunct professor in both auditing and tax for Concordia University, Burger serves on Concordia’s Board of Regents and on various committees. He also continues to provide leadership to various local and statewide organizations, including the Seward Memorial Library Foundation, Et Cetera Thrift Shop, Mental Health Association of Nebraska, Stone Bridge Creek Homeowners Association, and Fallbrook Homeowners Association. He is a member of the AICPA as well. Burger enjoys sports and spending time with his wife Lisa, a former teacher at Lincoln Lutheran Middle & High School. They are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln and have three children: Kylie, Lexie, and Dylan. FOR DIRECTOR Lorraine A. “Lori” Egger of Gretna i s a t ax manag i ng d i rec tor for KPMG LLP and belongs to KPMG’s National Development and Exempt Organizations (DEO) Group. She operates out of KPMG’s Omaha office and manages KPMG’s Midwest DEO practice. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Egger has more than 20 years of public accounting and tax experience, specializing in tax consulting and compliance for tax-exempt organizations, including hospitals, colleges, private foundations, and public charities, among other tax-exempt organizations. She is a frequent speaker on exempt organization tax matters at industry forums, conferences, and associated meetings. A Society member since 2001, Egger served on the board of the Foundation of the Nebraska Society of CPAs for six years and currently serves on the Society’s Not-For-Profit Committee, where she led the committee as vice chairman and chairman for five years. She previously served on the Society Board of Directors from 2008-2011. She also is a member of the AICPA and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She and her husband Chris have three children: Emma, Gavin, and Ava. FOR DIRECTOR Neal D. Lyons of Lincoln is CFO for UNICO Group Inc. He has 30 years of experience in public accounting and industry. He started his accounting career with BKD LLP and has held the role of CFO with several Lincoln businesses. Lyons has been a member of both the Nebraska Society and the AICPA since 1989. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU). Lyons has served in leadership roles for many other local service and charitable organizations and currently serves on the board of directors for Tabitha. His wife Michelle, also an NWU alum, is the payroll manager for Nebraska Wesleyan. They have two children who are both NWU alumni as well: Ericka is a cardiac nurse, and Carter is attending graduate school at Colorado State University studying math.
