The membership is provided the opportunity to vote on the nominees during the Annual Meeting, whichwill be heldNovember 4 in conjunctionwith the Fall CPE Conference at the Embassy Suites in La Vista. “Volunteering to serve others and your profession is highly rewarding,” said Society Past Chairman and Nominating Committee Chairman Ryan Parker of Endicott Clay Products in Fairbury. “Although volunteering requires time away from the office and effort, serving the profession through the Nebraska Society of CPAs has been educational and inspiring,” he said. “There’s a great deal of value in collaborating with other CPAs to advocate for the profession,”SocietyChairmanPatrickMeyer ofHBE LLP in Lincoln stated. “Through the Society, we are able to speak with one voice in the legislative and regulatory arenas.” Testifying before the Nebraska Legislature earlier this year, Meyer recognizes the ability of the Society to educate and influence our elected officials. “Through the Society, we are part of a team—making decisions, championing issues, and advancing thought where one individual, one CPA, may not be able to do so as effectively.” Society Secretary Kelly Martinson of Lutz & Co., PC, in Omaha presents the following slate of candidates for the 2019-2020 Society year. “Nebraska CPAs are once again fortunate to have a group of highly experienced leaders to guide our Society this coming year,” saidMartinson. “Congratulations to the nominees for 2019-2020.” • CHAIRMAN: ShariA.Munro, FrankelZachariaLLC,Omaha • CHAIRMAN-ELECT: Ryan L. Munro of Omaha has more than 30 years of public accounting experience and recently celebrated her 26th anniversary with Frankel Zacharia in Omaha, where she serves as a director in the firm’s Audit and Assurance area. Munro started her public accounting career at Coopers & Lybrand, working in both the Omaha and Denver offices. She has been a member of the Nebraska Society since 1993, serving on the Society Board of Directors, Nominating Committee, and Quality Review Committee. Munro was elected to the board in 2013, serving as secretary for one year and treasurer for three years. A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Munro has experience in a variety of industries including wholesale distribution, construction, governmental, and not-for-profit, as well as playing a large role in the firm’s Peer Review Services. She recently completed her term on the board of directors and as treasurer for the UNO Alumni Association and is a member of the AICPA. Munro’s husband Kevin is the Omaha market president for Frontier Bank. Their son Matthew is an attorney with McGrath North in Omaha and son Connor is a senior audit associate for KPMG LLP in Omaha. FOR CHAIRMAN-ELECT Ryan L. Burger of Lincoln is an investment advisor representative at GBE CPA in Seward. He graduated from Kearney High School before attending Concordia University in Seward.
