J U L Y / A U G U S T 2 0 1 9 10 nebraska cpas Providing college scholarships to future Nebraska CPAs has been a priority for the Foundation of the Nebraska Society of CPAs for the past four decades—but never more so than under the leadership of former Society President Dan Vodvarka. To honor Dan and his passion for the Foundation, the Society Board of Directors has voted to contribute $28,000 to the Foundation to help fund a scholarship honoring Dan for his 28 years of service to the Society. In doing so, the Society Board has challenged the Foundation to raise an amount that will equal or exceed the $28,000 donation—and that’s why we are reaching out to you today! Under Dan’s leadership, the Foundation experienced tremendous growth and its impact increased significantly. During Dan’s first year of service in 1990, the Foundation provided $31,300 in grants and scholarships to 27 students. In 2018, during Dan’s last year of service, a record 72 students at 14 Nebraska colleges and universities received Foundation scholarships, from $1,500 to $3,500 each, totaling $127,500.
